Kathryn S. Noon Smith, 61, of Moundsville, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Reynolds
Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 5, 1948 in Glen Dale, WV the daughter of the late William T. Noon and A. Moynelle Noon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years Keith Smith of Moundsville; her daughters Keri (Gordon) Smith Phillips
of Martins Ferry, OH  and Kelley Smith of St. Clairsville, OH; a sister Linda Noon of Moundsville; a grandson Zane
Phillips of Martins Ferry; and several other family members.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at CARE Funeral & Cremation
Service, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville.  Services will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Clay, WV
with Pastor Wayne Smith Officiating. Out of town arrangements are entrusted to Wilson, Shamblin & Smith Funeral
Home of Clay, WV.

Interment will be at Little Laurel Cemetery, Clay, WV.
Velma Rose McDiffitt Cunningham, 60, of Moundsville, WV, passed away peacefully in her sleep on
Tuesday, January12, 2010, at her home.

Velma was born October 10, 1949 the daughter of the late Harry Alanzo McDiffitt and Lelah Pansy Wade McDiffitt.  
She was a Pharmacy Technician and EMT for over 25 years.  She was Christian by faith and a member of the Big
Run Christian Church of Cameron, WV. She loved reading and doing ceramics as well as spending time with her
grand-daughter.  

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by five brothers, Little Harry, Forest, Truman, Virgil, and Gerald
McDiffitt, four sisters; Margaret, Ruth, Orleda, and Carol.


She is survived by one son Ken Cunningham; one daughter Rochelle Cunningham both of Moundsville and a
beloved granddaughter Emalee Cunningham.  Two brothers; Roger McDiffitt of Cameron and Clyde (Karen)
McDiffitt of Wheeling. Four sisters Crystal (Russ) Covey of Belpre OH.; Daisy (Charles) Wendt of Moundsville;
Violet (George) Pelley of Moundsville; Vivian McDiffitt of Moundsville.  
Two sister-in –laws; Gladys McDiffitt of Fort Wayne IN. and Twila McDiffitt of Charles Town, WV; and many nieces,
nephews and special friends.

There will be a Memorial Service on Friday January 15, 2010 at 10A.M. in the CARE Chapel 1500 Second Street,
Moundsville, WV. Pastor Joel Traylor will officiate.

Interment will follow immediately following services at Thomas Chapel Wetzel County WV.
Patricia (Bertrand) Kawasaki, 69, of Moundsville, WV, formerly of Eastlake, OH passed away peacefully
at the home of her daughter and son-in law on Sunday, January 24, 2010.
She was born September 19, 1940 in Moundsville, WV, the daughter of the late Evelyn and Sherman Bertrand.

She enjoyed playing games and spending time with her family.  She always had a smile and laugh for anyone who
needed it, and was willing to help anyone in need.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Novel and Marilyn Bertrand; and two
brothers, infant Allen, and Gary Bertrand.

She is survived by her son James Kawasaki of Moundsville; two daughters, Barb Jennings and her husband Bill of
Wheeling, and Debra Koerlin and her husband John of Eastlake, OH; a sister Shirley Conkle; two brothers,
Challen Bertrand and his wife Barb and Sonny Bertrand and his wife Betty; seven grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, Bill Jennings, Jr. and his wife Brandy and their daughter Madillyn, Jason Jennings and his wife Rae-
Lyne, and Jonathan Jennings, all of Wheeling, WV, Tina Collins, Amy May and her husband Steve and their
children McKhala, Bhrandon, and Haley, and Cassandra Alfieri, all of Eastlake, OH; and James Kawasaki, Jr. of
PA; as well as several nieces and nephews including a special niece Joyce Wetzel.

Family and friends will be received for visitation on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 2
- 4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at
CARE Funeral and Cremation Service, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville, WV where services will be held on
Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with the Pasture Paul Smith officiating.

Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville, WV.

Clarice Evelyn Rush Sampson, 80, of 7th Street, Moundsville, died on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at
Clarice was born November 28, 1929 in Cameron, WV, The daughter of the late Franklin Wiley Rush and Berti
Gilbert Rush. She was a Baptist by faith and a wonderful housewife who enjoyed dancing, movies, fairs, visiting
relatives and laughing and joking.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Edward Rush; two sisters, Olive
Williams and Mildred Straw.

She is survived by her Husband of 56 years Kenneth Dale Sampson; two daughters, Linda Sue Sing and Janet
Marie Peck and her long time companion, Robert Woods Sr., all of Moundsville; one Grand-son, Roger (Jody)
Losh of Moundsville; three Great Grandsons, Roger, Jessie and Briar Losh of Moundsville; two step
Great-Grandsons, Michael and Ace Crews of Moundsville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be visitation on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m.

Gertrude Hupp, 56, of Valley View Ave., Wheeling, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at her
home.

She was born January 10, 1954 in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late James Hitchcock and Myrtle (Zimmerman)
Hitchcock.

Gertrude was a former nurses aide and a member of the Ruble Methodist Church of Wheeling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Leroy Hupp of Wheeling WV.

She is survived by; Two Sons, James (Melissa ) Hupp and Brad Hupp. One Brother, Joe Hitchcock; One Sister,
Norma (Ron) Williams and One Granddaughter, Sydney Maye Hupp, all of Wheeling.

Interment will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 10 AM at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
