On Oct. 7, 2020, Susanna Jane Kirchner, 89, of Wheeling, WV went to be with her Lord.
Susanna was born in Wheeling on Oct. 18, 1930, to the late John and Angela (Filip) Henning.
She married Joseph Kirchner and settled in Summit, NJ. Upon Joe’s death, she longed to return to her roots in Wheeling, so she moved home with her 6 children. She was a faithful member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Susanna attended St. Al’s School and St. Joseph’s Academy. She loved music, especially singing her favorite, Take me Home, Country Roads. Some of her fondest memories were playing the piano, organ, and singing at Columbia Club, WWVA Radio Amateur Hour, and at various churches. The oldest of 9 children, she was a natural Mother. Having grown up during the Great Depression, she knew the importance of hard work. During the 40’s and 50’s, she worked with Joe Weithe at Center Wheeling Market, and G.C. Murphy. Later, she enjoyed helping at her brother’s store, Don’s Corner Market in Wheeling.
In addition to her parents, her husband Joseph preceded her in death; siblings Roger and Yvonne, and great-grandson Tyler.
She is survived by her children; John (Mary) Kirchner, Moundsville; Bruce Kirchner, Wheeling; Bryan (Lupe) Fayetteville, OH; Michelle (Jay) Montesano, Moundsville; Tim (Lisa) Kirchner, Dillonvale, OH and Dr. Loren (Mabel) Kirchner, Wooster, OH; siblings, Eleanor Poland, Donald (Roberta) Henning, Kathleen Whitehouse, Roxanne (Frank) Geleski, Joyce Henning, Richard (Joyce) Henning, 11 grandchildren, Lorrie (Matthew) Downs, Steve Kirchner, Julie (Noah) Rivera, Angela (Jeff) Morwatuage, John Montesano, Ian (Kaitlin) Kirchner, Ethan Kirchner, Erin (Drew) Goodspeed, Evan Kirchner, Jill Herncane, Cindy (Mark) Pollman; 11 great-grandchildren, Anna Downs, Josh Downs, Maddie Kirchner, Joe Kirchner, Louise Morwatuage, Lucille Morwatuage, Scarlett Kirchner, Josh (Lindsey) Herncane, Mikaela Herncane, Tyler Pollman, Logan Pollman; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Nell Herncane; a brother and sister-in-law; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held Sat., Oct. 17, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wheeling.
