Connie M. Hughes, born on Sept. 27, 1920 in Dublin, Ireland, passed away at the age of 95 on Wednesday morning, April 27, 2016 at Magnolia Place in Greenville, South Carolina. Connie came from Dublin, Ireland in 1929 to the U.S. where she remained. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and a homemaker.
Surviving are her children; Carole S. Salim and her husband, Gino, of East Palestine, OH, Kaye M. Allen of Spartanburg, Bonnie B. Sheville and her husband, Bob, of Toronto, OH, and John S. Hughes of East Liverpool, OH; ten grandchildren: Debbie McKenzie, Brian and Kevin Sheely, Jessica Hall, Joni Buratti, Melanie Creel, Mandie Upton, Jason and Bobby Sheville, and Chasity Anderson as well as sixteen great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Stuart and Catherine (Lowe) Flaherty, her husband Howard J. Hughes; a son: Terry J. Hughes and two brothers: Eric and Harry Flaherty.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. with Father Will Lawbaugh of St. Stephen’s Church officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 11:30 A.M. up until the time of service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Greenville: 15 Vrenden Way, Greenville, SC 29615
