Ellen Louise Adkins, 59, formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, died Sunday, December 1, 2019 in Ames, Iowa.
She was born May 17, 1960 in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Lee Eldon Adkins and Wilma Louise Rohr Adkins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jeffrey Eldon Adkins.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Debra Lee (John) Swenson of Polo, Missouri, her twin brother, Elliott Wayne (Diana) Adkins of Ames, Iowa, and another brother, Greg Alan Adkins of Des Moines, Iowa, 17 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
Ellen attended Beaver Local Schools and was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She participated in many events in Special Olympics, including swimming, cross country skiing, bowling and bocce and worked in many sheltered workshops for the disabled. Ellen loved kittens and cats, music, watching TV, coloring, and shopping.
Services will be held Friday, December 6, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home Calcutta Chapel, 15872 St. Clair Ave., Calcutta, Ohio.
The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
