Faynell (Gilmore) Utter, 89, of Fork Ridge, Moundsville, WV, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at her home.

Faynell was born September 14, 1930, in Ritchie County, WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Sylvia (Dawson) Gilmore. She was a homemaker and a Christian by faith. She owned dairy farms at one time, and loved gardening, flowers and animals.

In addition to her parents, Faynell was preceded in death by two sons, Carlton Leo Smith and William Lee Smith; four sisters, Helen, Donna Jean, Jeanette and Violet; three brothers, Billy, Russ and Richard; a granddaughter, Nicole Smith; and a great-grandchild.

Faynell is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vincent Clark Utter; a daughter, Helena (Denver) Thomas of Sevierville, TN; a sister, Betty Moneypenny; a brother, Frank Gilmore; seven grandchildren, Tina (Todd) Watson, Shelly Cato, Staci (Jason) Quillen, Jenny Thomas, Carlton “C.J.” Smith, Barry (Shari) Kincaid, and Wendy (Paul) Holstine; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville. Online condolences may be offered to the family at carechapel.com.
