George Anthony Singer Jr. age 83, of St. Clairsville, OH passed away December 11, 2019 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. George, “Bud”, was born December 6, 1936 in Wheeling, WV son of George A. Singer Sr. and Lenora M. Juergens Singer who preceded him in death along with his infant brother Richard.

He is survived by his loving wife and devoted caretaker of 60 years, Nancy L. Irwin Singer, brother, Roger (Susie) Singer of Grove City, OH and sister, Ruth Marshall of Wheeling, WV; brothers in law Bill (Marcie) Irwin of Wheeling, WV, Jack Irwin, of St. Clairsville, OH and Thomas Irwin of Pittsburgh, PA; children: Lynne (Jeff) Mamone of Martins Ferry, OH, Doug (Joy) Singer of Columbus, OH, Steve (Dawn) Singer of San Ramon, CA, and Susan Heath (Mark Wareham) of Hilliard, OH and grandchildren: Sarah (Steven) Denman, Jared Singer, Devin, Jordan and Owen Heath, Tristen, Taylor and Blaine Singer and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

George was a person who loved his Lord, life and family and enjoyed coaching his boys in little league baseball, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, camping, square dancing, Steeler football, gardening, investing and working on his model railroad. He was devout in his Lutheran faith since childhood and over the years served his church in many capacities and especially enjoyed singing in the choir.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a proud graduate of Wheeling College.

George was owner/operator of Cameo Dental Laboratory, Wheeling WV for 34 years and worked tirelessly with his wife Nancy and daughter Lynne to create dental restorations for many dentists in the Ohio Valley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, St. Clairsville, OH, Liza’s Place or a charity of the donor’s choice. A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, St. Clairsville, OH. Calling hours will be from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00am.

    George and I went to high school together and because our names were Singer and Sprouts we often sat next to each other. I remember him as a really nice friend and I was so sorry to read that he died. I last saw him at the 50th year reunion.. To his family my sincere sympathy.
