Hazel V. (Sims) Salsberry, 93, of Wellsville passed away following a brief illness at East Liverpool City Hospital on Monday, January 20, 2020.
She was born in Tell City, Indiana on February 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Frank P. Sims and Myrtle (Bassinger) Sims. Hazel moved to the area early in life and attended Toronto High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards with her family as well as doing jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo. She was also a lifetime member of Post 5647 Wellsville V.F.W. Auxiliary. Hazel was employed with Crucible Steel during the war and went on to work at WC Bunting Company, and Riverview Greenhouse.
Survivors include a son: James F. Salsberry (Bobbie) of Wellsville, Ohio; a daughter Nancy V. Dunn (Robert) of Calcutta, Ohio; and six grandchildren: Amy Kostival (PR), James Malone (Kelly), Tammie Green (Ken), Linda Dunn, Billie Heiney, and Kathern “Betsy” Brown. Also surviving are several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband: James W. Salsberry whom she married on February 8, 1946, two granddaughters; Amy Jo Malone-Rosenbaum and Lonna Martin; four brothers: Benny, Frank, Murel and William Sims and four sisters: Isabelle Lemasters, Edna Neil, Betty Trevor and Margaret Francis.
Services will be held at the MacLean Chapel of Care Funeral and Cremation Services in Wellsville on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 6PM with pastor Dirk Hall officiating.
Family will be present to receive friends on Thursday at the MacLean Chapel from 3 – 6PM up until the time of services at 6PM.
