James L McKinnon died at the Calcutta Health Care Center on Sunday February 23, 2020 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Liverpool on April 13, 1924 a son of the late Forrest J. McKinnon and Elizabeth Headley.
Having lived his entire life in the area, Jim was an honorary 2002 graduate of East Liverpool High School, a WWII Navy Veteran; Member of: VFW Post 66, Knights of Columbus Council 509, High Noon Bowling League, Holy Trinity Parish at St Aloysius and at one time was invited to try out for the Cleveland Browns. Jim was a custodian for the East Liverpool School System from which he retired after many years of service.
Jim is survived by two sons: Michael McKinnon and his wife Trudy of East Liverpool, Dennis James “DJ” McKinnon and his wife Anna of East Liverpool; two daughters: Tricia Cooper and her husband Jim of East Liverpool, Carol Russell East Liverpool; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his wife: Eileen (Tuohy) McKinnon whom he married October 7, 1944; six brothers: Forest McKinnon, Albert McKinnon, Clarence McKinnon, Robert McKinnon, Charles McKinnon and Cecil McKinnon and one sister: Dora Snyder.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at Holy Trinity Parish-St Aloysius Church on Thursday at 10AM with Father Scott Kopp officiating.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home Calcutta Chapel on Wednesday form 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
