Larry R. Blakeley Sr, 81, passed away on February 21, 2021 at his home in Wellsville after a brief illness. Larry was born on May 12, 1939, in East Liverpool, OH, the son of the late Leroy and Ina (Delong) Blakeley. He lived in the area his entire life.
Larry graduated from Wellsville with the Class of 1959. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and spent 13 months in Korea.
Larry was very active with youth sports. He was a track coach and also spent time as a little league baseball coach. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family. If he was not with family, most often, he could be found working in his vegetable garden and landscaping the yard with flowers.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his wife of 58 years, Patricia Montgomery Blakeley, whom he married on October 6, 1962; and his daughter, Lori (Jack) Klein, of Plum, PA; two brothers: Lannie Blakeley, and Jerry (Cindy) Medley; he also leaves behind five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by: his son, Larry Blakeley Jr., who passed away on June 8, 2020; his grandson, Nathan Blakeley; three brothers: Lee Blakeley, and Terry and Gary Medley; and two sisters: Joyce Hess and Barbara Delock.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 2 PM-3 PM at the Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main Street, Wellsville. The funeral will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the church officiating. The Tri-State Burial group will also be present to accord full military honors.
