Madeline Lucille “Tootsie” Black, 79, of Wheeling, WV., passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 14, 1943, in Wheeling, WV., She is the daughter of the late John W. Smith and Merle Mae (Cumberlidge) Smith.
Madeline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and she was so very proud to be a great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Madeline is preceded in death by six sisters, Pearl Charlotte Smith (infant); Mary M. Smith; Mandy Hand; Edna Bise; Sarah Jo Nelson; Helen Harris, and three brothers, Clyde Edward Smith (infant), John Smith and Ben Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Larry Black Sr., a son Larry Black Jr., both of Wheeling, WV., a daughter Madeline (Tony) Wasemann, of Cameron, WV., three grandchildren, John (Elizabeth) Hans of Adena, OH., Ashley Hans of Morgantown, WV., and Shania Hans of Cameron, WV.; two great grandchildren, Gracie and Brayden Hans, and one sister, Debra (Ronald) Hundley of Paisley, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation per Madeline’s request.
