Passed Away: March 23, 2015

Ronald Lemoyne Holmes, 80, of Moundsville, W.Va., passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, at his home.


Ronald was born March 9, 1935 in Marshall County, a son of the late Okey Randolph Holmes and Osie Marie Wellman Holmes.  He was retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 132.  He loved running heavy equipment and keeping busy.  He loved his friends, neighbors and family, and he will be missed by all.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Ida Pearl Winland Evick Holmes; a brother, Delmar Holmes; a step-daughter, April Michelle Wood; and a step-son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Barb Evick.


Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Rutan Holmes; two sons, Ronald Slack and Shannon (Judy) Holmes, all of Moundsville; a daughter, Madelyn (Paul) Allen of Moundsville; a step-son, Bruce (Danielle) Wood of Moundsville; two sisters, Myrna Holstine of Moundsville and Vera (Vernon) Midcap of Martins Ferry, Ohio; a brother, Gene (Carol) Holmes of Martins Ferry; a special nephew, Mitch (Pat) Holmes; grandchildren, Nekesha, Kristopher and Bell Wood, Taylor McCain, and Arlo and Aaralyn Slack; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Allison Hilt, and Peyton Wood; several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Olivia.


Friends and family will be received from Noon until time of memorial service at 1 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the CARE Funeral Home, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Marlene Holmes, 6898 Fairmont Pike, Moundsville, WV 26041.
