Ruth Juanita Emma Elizabeth Lyons Rice

Ruth Juanita Emma Elizabeth Lyons Rice, 97, of Saint Clairsville, Ohio passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

She was born May 22, 1924 in Saint Clairsville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Conoy and Mariah Jones Lyons.

Ruth was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Saint Clairsville where she was the former Treasurer of the Missionary Society, served as a Deaconess, usher, choir member and Sunday School Teacher. She was known for her homemade rolls and for watching her Western “Shoot’em Ups” every day on TV.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Rice on December 17, 2003, one son, Emmett R. Rice, Jr., brothers, Henry, Leonard and Leo Lyons and great-grandaughter, Denajua Delaney.

Surviving are her children, John W. Rice of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Madelyn “Cookie” Sanders of South Euclid, Ohio, Teresa C. Rice of Saint Clairsville, Ohio, and Jeannette “GiGi” (John) Allison of Canal Winchester, Ohio and sister-in-law, Tami Lyons of Mill Valley, California. Seven grandchildren, Evans “Lee” Delaney, Jr., Ruth Delaney, TerryLynn Delaney, Mariah Allison, Rauchelle (Byron) Allgood, LaSha Allison, and Christian (Terry) Atwood, 21 great grandchildren, over 30 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends and Family will be received on Friday from 3-7 pm and on Saturday 12 pm until time of services at 1pm at the First Baptist Church 112 Newell Avenue, Saint Clairsville, Ohio with Reverend Carl E. Denson officiating. Interment in the Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
