I remember this man from a time meeting him in the spring of 1954. I had completed my last year in high school and was invited to visit Indiana University to meet their coaching staff. There were two fine young men from the Wheeling area who went out there with me, This as I recall was the spring of 1954. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting John, as well Chuck Howley, who played his football at Warwood. We, the three of us, had a great time, watched the football team in Spring training, and talked with the coaching staff of Bernie Crimmons (not sure of the spelling) the coach at that time. I never forgot those two pleasant young men. I know Chuck played at WVU and later the Dallas Cowboy NFL team. I have lost track of everyone since I left the area, and was saddened to read this news. My sympathy to the family.

Memories of visiting the Piehowicz household are dear to me. I met Jan Piehowicz in third grade and we have been friends ever since! John was a fine, upstanding member of the Bellaire community and his loss is profound.
