We lost a true legend of the Knights of Columbus and good friend in Fred Baldasare! May God keep him close and we will all pray for his family during these trying times. While I had only known Fred in the last few years he was a true gentlemen. I truly enjoyed talking with Fred and learning about his wonderful life. He was most proud of his family and spoke about them with great pride and love. I will miss our talks and the great education I gleaned from our time together. Fred, Ed Welch (my father) and Bill Daugherty were quite the threesome all those years ago. Bill actually chewed tobacco, if I remember right, and Ed smoked Pall Malls. But those cigars really did add some class to those get-togethers, thanks to you, Fred. I remember thinking at the time that grown men can be friends too. Friendship and loyalty are not just gifts for the young. I can still hear those voices and the laughter you three shared. May God bless Jeanne and the kids and the grandchildren. They had you for a long time. And now they can remember the good times and the young days. I will be donating something to the suggested cause in my parents' and my siblings' names.
